As a young adult I was introduced to the value of helping others while volunteering at a children’s grief camp. It was the exposure to healing pain through support and creativity that led me to career in social service. While attending Southwestern College in New Mexico, I deepened my understanding of how to become conscious of thoughts and behaviors, embrace our individuality, and discover the importance of connection to others.
In 2010, I returned to the hospice milieu and enhanced my expertise of grief & loss, chronic illness, and care-giving while working as an art therapist and bereavement director. A few years later I opened a private practice offering individual therapy to adults.
All the people I have met along this path of healing have enriched my understanding of what it means to be a vulnerable yet resilient human being who can experience both the pain and joy of life. I value integrity in my work, and stay current with evidenced-based research and techniques by attending regular trainings and peer supervision with other licensed therapists.
