My path toward a career in social services began when I volunteered at a local Hospice children’s grief camp. Seven years after that initial exposure to the power of connection and creativity, I was accepted into the Art Therapy and Counseling program at Southwestern College in New Mexico. Throughout those two years in the desert, I learned how to become conscious of thoughts and behaviors, embrace individuality, and more deeply understood how vital connection with others is to finding strength, hope, and joy.
In 2010, I returned to the hospice milieu and enhanced my expertise of grief & loss, chronic illness, and care-giving while working as an art therapist and bereavement director. A few years later I opened a private practice offering individual therapy to adults.
All the people I have met along this path of healing have enriched my understanding of what it means to be a vulnerable yet resilient human being who can experience both the pain and joy of life. I value integrity in my work, and stay current with evidenced-based research and techniques by attending regular trainings and peer supervision with other licensed therapists.
