How I Work

I bring compassion, thoughtfulness, humor and skill into my work with clients. I believe people are capable of creating a life with meaningful relationships and fulfilling experiences. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative relationship and value honest communication between me and clients. I am devoted to providing clients a time and space to attend to their humanity, and expand beyond limiting perceptions.
Experience has proven to me that we can work through the pain of our past or current experiences to create enduring change that is satisfying and rewarding. The possibility of a future unlike our past can happen, but it takes time, commitment, and actions. I am here to support those who seek change with skill and care.
Methods
EMDR
EMDR is an acronym of the most widely researched and evidenced based trauma treatment. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy more quickly than traditional talk therapy.
Psycho Education
Knowledge can empower. Providing people the information to explain the what, why, and how of their experiences allows more choices to approach relationships and life.
Experiential Processes
Traditional talk therapy has its limitations. Experiential processes such as Psychodrama, writing and art allow for a deeper mind-body experience. They also allow the brain to organize, digest and retain information more easily.
Trauma-Focused Therapy
Distressing life experiences affect multiple aspects of a person. Using Polyvagal Theory as its foundation, this approach focuses on increasing control over one’s physical and emotional reactions to stress.
Internal Family System (IFS)
Also known as “Parts” work, IFS alleviates unrealistic expectations of oneself. This approach focuses on the integration of contradictory and conflicting perspectives and emotions within the human mind.
CBT & Values Focus
People are emotionally and physically affected by their thoughts. Cognitive distortions are common, yet often unrecognized contributors to a person’s psychological distress. Values are the guides for decision. Exploration and identification of a person’s values can provide focus & motivation for change.
